Using KeyTweak software
keyTweak is a free tool that allows you to disable a specific key on your laptop keyboard.All you have to do is select the specific key you want to disable on your laptop keyboard and then follow the steps below to disable it-
First download the KeyTweak tools from this link and open it Select the key you want to disable on your keyboard. After selecting the key, click on the Disable Key button. Then click the Apply button at the bottom right of the screen You will be prompted to restart your PC for the changes to take effect. And thus, the key you have chosen to disable will be disabled after restarting the laptop.
How to restart keyboard key?
Next time, if you want to re-enable all the disabled keys, you need to open the Tools and click on the Restore ALL Defaults button. Then restart the laptop and when the laptop is re-opened you will see that the keys on the keyboard are working again.
AutoHotkey is a free scripting language that is used to automate repetitive tasks in Windows. You can use it to disable a specific key on your laptop’s keyboard.
First, check out the list of supported keys from the official AutoHotkey website.If the key you want to disable on your laptop keyboard is in the list of AutoHotkey supported keys, download AutoHotkey and follow the steps below –
First open any text editor on your laptop and type the reference name of the key you want to disable. Error type “:: return” (two colon). You will get the reference name of the key from this link. As an example today we will disable the CapsLock key here.
In the picture above you can see that the reference name of Caps Lock key is CapsLock. Now if we want to disable the caps lock key then we have to type CapsLock :: return in the text editor. Then save this script (using the .ahk extension) to a safe place where you can easily find it.
Then double click on the newly created file (here we have named the file as key.ahk).
After clicking it will launch the AutoHotkey script and disable the key you selected (CapsLock key here).
If you need to use this disabled key again in the future, you need to turn off the AutoHotkey script and your settings will return to normal as soon as you turn them off. To do this, right-click on the H icon in your taskbar and click on Suspend Hotkey.
Using Simple Disable Key
Simple Disable Key is another free tool that you can use to disable any specific key on your laptop keyboard. Follow the steps below to disable the keyboard key using Simple Disable Key First download the Simple Disable Key Tools from this link. Then open the Simple Disable Key Tools Then click on the Select button on the right side of the key section Then select the key you want to disable on your keyboard and click the Add Key button on the right side of the Tools window. Select the key you want to disable only for a specific program. Otherwise select ALL Mode option and click on Disable Keys button. As soon as you click on Disable Keys, your selected key will be disabled. If you want to reuse the disabled keys, open the tools and click the Enable All Keys button at the bottom.
