This Asus computer is the size of a card

Just as small as the Raspberry Pi. However, it’s powerful, easy to configure, and even upgradeable: ASUS ’long-awaited card computer, the turbocharged successor to the Tinker Board, has been released.

The Raspberry Pi single-card PC has been a severe challenge: ASUS has announced a minicomputer called the Tinker Board 2S, the successor to the older model. The mini token is valid: the card is only 85mm x 56mm in size and weighs 340 grams. On the other hand, it came with quite a lot of knowledge: a Rockchip RK3399 chipset containing two ARM Cortex-A72 cores, four ARM Cortex-A53 cores, and an ARM Mali-T860 MP4 GPU running at 800 MHz.

The LPDDR4 RAM of the motherboard is 2 GB or 4 GB, and the internal storage (eMMC flash memory) is 16 GB, which can be expanded with a microSD card. The range of ports is also broad: everything you can think of: four USB ports, a full-size HDMI port, an RJ45 Gigabit LAN, and an M.2-2230 slot with a Bluetooth / wifi card. The motherboard also has 802.11 ac wifi and Bluetooth 5.0. In addition to the 40-pin GPIO, 22-pin MIPI DSI, 15-pin MIPI CSI-2, DC fan, and RTC battery headers are also available.

ASUS has also made available a simple setup tool and an IoT Cloud Console for data management and analysis and FOTA (firmware over-the-air) updates. ASUS adds the Debian-based Tinker operating system to the minicomputer.

The 2GB version costs $ 120, while the 4GB version costs $ 135. Documentation for a single-card computer is available here
